Hilltop Restaurant has been a well-known landmark in Owen County for 60 years.  Originally named Skyland Lodge, it opened July 4th, 1948 by Violet Mercer Anderson. 

Until 1970 the name remained Skyland Lodge until owners, Kurt & Martha Meier purchased the restaurant and changed the name.

On January 7, 2005, Jim and Kathy Reid purchased the restaurant and became the 5th owners.  Jim worked for many years with Violet Anderson and later with the second owners, Joe and Wilma Woods.  Kathy started in 1968 with the Woods and has been present during every other ownership change.  Jim and Kathy met at the restaurant some 38 years ago while both were employed there.

Family Style Dining has always been the serving style and we are one of the few remaining family style dining restaurant in the state of Indiana.
